View Article  Friday Blog Fun

Today we had good intentions of posting some news about Adaptive Hosting Solutions. But, seeing that it is Friday and all we decided to take an alternate course. Check out our latest blog, just for fun.

View Article  Latest System Status Posts Added to Support Area
We have added the three latest posts to the System Status category of our blog to the support area of the main Adaptive Hosting Solutions web site. Now, you can see if there is a system issue which may be causing a problem before you search the knowledgebase or submit a support request.
View Article  Helm Control Panel Updated

We have updated the Helm Control Panel used for all Windows hosting accounts to the latest version. Most of the changes in this latest version are to add features that don’t affect how you use the control panel or to fix existing bugs.

The most important change is that the bug which caused domains using an MX record for email other than the standard to add in a secondary MX record when adding or removing email accounts has been fixed. This bug affected domains using Email Defense or where we don’t provide the email hosting for your domain. The result is now you won’t have to contact us to correct the DNS when you add/remove email accounts.

View Article  Hurricane Preparedness

This year, Adaptive Hosting Solutions is in a much better situation for hurricane season than in the past.  All hosting accounts are now on our servers in our datacenter in Dallas, TX.  This facility provides a better geographic location to resist hurricanes and better infrastructure to provide uptime in the event of a power loss or Internet connectivity loss at the datacenter.

Our office is still in the heart of Central Florida which, last year, was in the path of three hurricanes.  Although hosting services would not be affected by a hurricane that hit our offices we may lose power, phones, Internet connectivity or some combination of these services.

If we do experience a hurricane in our area, please continue to use our web site to submit support requests if you need assistance with your account.  This will ensure we can respond in a timely manner in case our office isn't fully operational due to a storm.  We will update this blog with any news if we are affected by a hurricane this season.

View Article  Using WebMail with mailto: Email Links in Firefox

If you use Firefox (and you should to be more secure) as your browser and use WebMail to access your email, you’ve probably been frustrated when you click on an email link on a web page and it tries to open your email client. Wouldn’t it be nice if it could open up WebMail and compose a new message to that address?  With the WebmailCompose Firefox extension, you can do just that. Here’s how:

  • First, download and install the extension using the link above and restart Firefox.
  • Next, in Firefox choose Tools/Extensions… from the menu to bring up the Extensions window.
  • Highlight the WebmailCompose extension and click the Options… button.
  • If you are using our Linux hosting WebMail, choose “horde” as the Default/Left Click Service on the General tab.  If you are using our Windows hosting WebMail, choose “other”.
  • Click the WebMail Services tab.
  • If you are using Linux WebMail, check the box next to Enable Horde and uncheck all other services . In the text entry next to Enable Horde, replace the URL there with the following:
    http://webmail.adaptivehostingsolutions.com:2095/horde/imp/compose.php?
    popup=0&to=^T&cc=^C&bcc=^B&msg=^M&subject=^S\

If you are using Windows WebMail, check the box next to Enable Other and uncheck all other services.  In the text entry next to Enable Other, replace the URL there with the following:
    http://helmmail.adaptivehostingsolutions.com/Main/frmCompose.aspx?to=^T&subject=^S
  • Click OK to save your changes then close the Extensions window.

Now, when you click on an email address link on a web site, a new message will be composed in WebMail.  Note that you should already be logged in to WebMail for this to work effectively.
